You Are Strong
I had a conversation with a friend a week ago regarding our personal strength. There are things in my life that I believe have made me strong. He countered that perhaps it’s that I already am strong, not that they made me strong, and that’s why I was able to deal with them. Fair point.
Each of us is strong. We are human beings navigating a tricky obstacle course daily. Things are thrown our way that we have to deal with. The fact that we wake up the next day means we are strong – we conquered and survived. This is a part of human nature. To give credit away to external factors when it is within that we draw this strength from is to diminish our power.
You are strong. Pain. Suffering. Loss. Change. Heartbreak. Disease. You bounced back from every single one. That is YOUR strength. Sure, life may have knocked you on your ass for a bit, but you got back up. You took another step. You course-corrected and moved forward. You reached out for help when you needed it (hopefully). You allowed yourself to feel what was going on so you could process it. You pivoted with the change.
Do I believe that you can increase your strength? Absolutely. I think we get better at fighting our battles with time and once we have determined the most effective way to do so. I believe that strengthens you. But you already have that strength within to tap into. And as you tap into it, your strength grows.
You ARE strong. Own that shit and stop giving the credit to life itself, when it is you that has the strong spirit. It is you fighting the internal and external battles and still showing up. You have everything you need to fight the battles that come your way. You are the victor of your own life.
